Alls well that ends well

Andy's post from Wednesday night that never got posted! I was spending the night with Seth in the camper!

Kate is sleeping peacefully tonight and after a rough start to the day with breathing problems and the fear of being re-intubated, we are very blessed indeed. Her lungs are sounding much better and we are very pleased with the hard work and professionalism of the respiratory therapist and all they have done! (thanks Jackie and Aaron for all your work today!) Every two hours Kate is receiving treatments and every four hours they do percussion taps on her to loosen any blockages. Kate has been on narcotics for about two weeks so she is also on methadone which is often used by those addicted to drugs to help with withdrawals. We joke that we may come in and find her listening to Pink Floyd and watching a lava lamp. Kate is finally receiving some nutrition after an eight hour battle with a tube meant to go into her intestine that ended up looking like a crazy straw. Her vomiting due to withdrawal symptoms is a concern since she can aspirate and have more lung problems so Nana has graciously volunteered to stay in Kate's room tonight.
