Any Ideas?

It's Seth's special Star Day coming up at school next week....we are encouraged to do some sort of special snack with the class that day...anyone have any cool ideas of a fun, somewhat healthy snack that you could make/cook/build WITH 11 5 year olds?

I know my awesome blog readers won't disaspoint!

Hmmm, here's my kinder teacher ideas...maybe they have been done too many times before...
1. Dirt cups; crushed oreos, pudding, and gummy worms
2. Make their own trail mix with different materials
3. Make "apple people". Use frosting as glue to put on raisins for eyes, M&M's for a nose, and mini-chocolate chips for the mouth. Hair can be squeeze frosting

That's all I got for now!

I like Gina's idea for the trail mix. Pretty simple, probably not as messy, and easier to keep healthy! Good luck!

string licorice makes great hair too! Watch for nut allergies with trail mix:( We always do rice crispy bars in a fun shape. You can add food coloring to the marshmallow mix to make them fit a season or school color and then top with sprinkles that match! It is not a class activity but always a hit!

Ants on a log is always a hit in my house, but you may have peanut allergies...maybe make them with nutella?

Sunflower butter is a pretty good substitute for the kinds of things you are mentioning. Apple smiles are fun too..red apple slices with PB/sunflower butter spread between and a few mini marshmallows for teeth. Also, if you had time....making butter in a jar by shaking it is fun...then you could bring in bagels, or some other kind of bread.

What about jello jigglers -- cut out shapes with cookie cutters?
