Blogging Slump

So...the blogging slump has hit again....guess I just haven't had much to "show and tell." Not that we haven't been busy...we have....

--baking 100 dozen cookies...Yeah, it was only supposed to be 40...but batch after batch kept bombing...they were spreading like crazy. It ended up being a 2 day marathon of cooking...Andy taking the day off...IT WAS A NIGHTMARE! But...they got done...they got delivered and the customer was happy!'

--volunteering in Seth's class. It was alot of fun...I enjoyed getting to know the kids and seeing a glimpse of their personality.

--cleaning and cleaning the pool. It has been so windy...and the leaves have been falling. Andy has been cleaning and cleaning the pool...Luckily we only have 4 more days...and then Andy has his evenings free

--Kate's Kart...it's always busy...there is always tons to do with that. We just loaded up about 3000 "educational" books to be taken to inner city schools in Chicago. We're excited that these books that will never be chosen off the Karts will be put into school libraries where they can be read and used. Plus...we just received a grant...a generous grant...and as of our last board meeting...I am now an "employee" of Kate's Kart. The grant allowed the board to hire me as a part time director. We feel blessed...honored...and needless to say...it takes away a little bit of financial stress.

And...look for 3 new postswith pics of some fun times this weekend. And here's to more posts...if nothing else...for our own personal family scrapbooks!

Pickin' Apples

Saturday afternoon...we headed to the apple orchard. The trees were pretty picked over (they said the heat/lack of rain really hit them hard) But...Seth had a fantastic time...he loved using the picker and pulling down the apples. He would have picked all day. Grant...well, due to the fact that there were lots of rotten apples on the ground,...he was confined to his stroller. He thorougly enjoyed munching on his apple. It was a glorious day to be outside.

We also picked up some fall decorations...each of the boys got a pumpkin. And...fresh apple crisp for dinner...YUM YUM! Isn't fall just glorious?

Solomon Farms

On Friday...I picked up Seth from school and we headed to Solomon Farms for their fall festival. We had no idea what to expect...but we were pleasantly surprised. We took a horse drawn wagon ride...watched a blacksmith make a chain...played in the corn husks...petted goats...and saw lots of old farming equipment and tractors. It was so windy...this pic just gives a little glimpse...poor little guy, couldn't even keep his eyes open in the wind.

Looking forward to going back next year...and taking daddy with us!

Upward

It's hard to believe we only have 2 more games left...it's such a joy to watch him play. This past weekend was parent tunnel week...love the smile on his little face!and they're down...Seth's #1 fan!

In a Routine!

So things have pretty much been in a routine around here....Andy and Seth are doing their school thing...while Grant and I do our Y thing in the mornings.

Seth seems to enjoying school...he is still excited about his homework and eagerly does it every day. It basically consists of reading his "kid news" for the day and circling certain words. He also has a letter worksheet that he has the whole week to work on...but he usually insists on doing it the first day! He is really starting to be able to read...it's exciting to hear him. Seth and I continue our nightly reading...usually consists of a chapter book each night...I really enjoy that 45 minutes of just snuggling with him in bed. We just recently worked our way through the entire A to Z Mysteries series (yeap...all 26). Now, we're working on some of the Super Editions of the A to Z as well as the Calendar Mysteries! I am so glad he has such a passion for reading.

He is 1/2 way through his soccer season...fortunately on Saturday we got our game in before the rain came.
Grant...as you know continues to bring us so much joy! His latest passion includes toothbrushes...he loves finding them, and chewing on them. He is getting closer and closer to walking...and just yesterday starting taking 2-3 steps between things he can hold on to. I just love this pic of my little cutie patootie..even with his paci stuck in mouth! Seriously...once those molars are through...it's paci boot camp!

Andy is working hard at school and at the pool...we're thankful to have the extra money through September...but windy days can cause a lot of leaves in the pool. We've had some beautiful Sept. days for swimming....in fact, last Friday we all went for an evening swim.

The boys went home with Grandma and Ted this weekend...so Andy and I had Sat/Sun to ourselves...we spent most of Sat. at Upward as they were collecting books for Kate's Kart...then we had our annual free concert from our electric company...this year it was Tracy Lawrence. After a carry in at church...our afternoon consisted of watching the Colts...a few naps...and attacking the messy attic.

So...we're keeping busy...livin' life. It's busy...in fact...the weekends are full through the end of October...it'll be here before we know it!

We have a wild one!

So...Grant has discovered yet a new trick! He is a wildman....just can't figure out why he won't use all the daring energy and learn to walk! He loves to climb that ladder...but just can't quite do it all on his own!

He seems to think by continually yelling: "mommy" that I will help him! Which I have come to realize...his "mommy" isn't really directed as a loving term to me...but more like a command that he is in need of something and expects me to fetch, fix, help or complete! Gee, I love that kid!
