Disney...last day at AK and Magic Kingdom

Saturday morning we woke up to sunny skies and a brand new 9 year old!
Even the hotel door got decorated!

We had a early morning reservation at the Cape May Cafe for a character breakfast.  We had to ride the bus to Hollywood Studios and then took the water taxi over to the Beach Club.  It was a yummy buffet
The birthday boy even got a chocolate cupcake for his birthday!

It was fun to be at a restaurant named after our favorite vacation spot!
Since daddy hadn't been to Animal Kingdom we headed back over there!  Andy was feeling much better...YEAH!   Took the safari ride again!

Got our iconic picture at Animal Kingdom

Went on a walking tour and saw the largest bats ever!  Creepy!
The boys really wanted Mickey's autography...we thought he would be at breakfast.  So...the boys and I went to find Mickey while Andy, Cathy and Ted went back to Bugs Life (it was cool in there...it was SO HOT!)
We got on the monorail and headed over back to Magic Kingdom

Just in time for another parade!

Then....waited about 20 minutes to eat lunch inside the new Be Our Guest Restaurant.   Definitely worth the wait!

Tried to ride the Goofy rollarcoaster...but it shut down after about 20 minutes in line.  So we hopped on the train.   and then.....i

it rained...and rained and rained and rained!  We rode around the park for a while....until they had us evacuate the train due to thunder and lightening.  We were stuck in the train station for about 1.5 hours.  It was miserable.    Grant fell asleep on my lap (and then of course, my legs fell asleep)   After the lightening stopped...we put on our very over used ponchos and made the most of it....

the rain just kept coming...some of the rides, we could get out of the rain...others...well, not so much.

Yep...this was our attire for 1/2 of our Disney vacation.  At least we got the use out of our $8 ponchos.
Dinner reservations were at Tony's.  Goofy called Seth and sung him a Happy Birthday!

After dinner we were cold, wet and tired and ready to go back to the hotel.   Fortunately, during dinner it finally stopped raining and we were able to end our vacation with a dry running of the Electrical Parade.   It felt much better leaving on a "dry" note.    It was a bummer, cause the park really wasn't that crowded...but due to the rain, a lot was shut down and we wasted time waiting for it to stop.  But...rain can't stop the MAGIC and we still had an AWESOME time.

Disney...Animal Kingdom

Woke up to sunshine on Friday morning...but to a very sick Andy!  Either the cupcake from Pizza Planet didn't agree with him...or he got a small touch of the flu bug.   He got up and tried to eat breakfast...but soon realized he wasn't going to be able to make it at the park.  So...sadly,  we headed off to Animal Kingdom and left Andy in the hotel to get some rest and hopefully get better soon!

It was HOT and CROWDED at AK.  We got a fast pass for the safari ride, watched the Bugs Life movie and went to the Lion King show.  I love the shows (and parades) and if it were just me...I'd spend most of my time watching those.    Must be my High School Showchoir wanna be days!

Took a ride on the safari...lots of fun animals

 Just missing 1 person!

Ever since we watched a video on Disney...Grant had been wanting to go to Bone Park...we finally made it!
We split up for a while...Ted and Seth went on a rollercoaster and Cathy, Grant and I went back to Bugs Life...and then got in line to see the afternoon parade!
It was so hot...I can't even imagine being one of those characters. Don't know how they do it?
We went back to the hotel to check on Andy...he had been up an hour or so and had eaten some fruit.  He came down to the pool while the boys and I went swimming.  It was Ted and Cathy's date night, so they ate at Epcot...while we opted to stay back and eat at the hotel with daddy.    At first he thought he might be able to join us...but chose to take it easy and not push himself too hard.  So. the boys and I headed over to Epcot to catch up with Grandma and Grandpa.     We tried to make it in time for test track...but the line got too long and we would have missed the fireworks.   So...we rode the Norway boat instead

And watched the fireworks before heading back to the hotel.    No Andy..and No Rain...but would gladly have traded some rain to have Andy with us.

Disney...Hollywood Studios

Thursday morning we woke up to Tropical Storm Andrea!  BOO!  So...we slept in and arrived at the park after 10!  It was pouring down rain and we were at a complete loss of where to go.   We stumbled upon the Muppet show and watched that!   Reservations for lunch were at 11...so we headed over to the sci-fi drive-in for lunch.    It's a fun place to have a meal...and the boys were mesmerized by the old time movie clips.

We found the CARS and stood in line in the rain to see them!

At this point it was still raining..and miserable...so we headed back to the hotel.   The boys watched a quick tv show and then we went to the arcade and had a snack....of course, the rain stopped and the sun started to shine!   So...back to the studios...take 2!

We were able to get quite a few rides in...the backlot tour and the Movie Ride.
and here they are...giving each other the "BEST BROTHER" award!  HA HA!

and a view down NY...and you can tell from Cathy's face...it was starting to rain...again!!!

After a few more rides...we had dinner at Pizza Planet

did the Star Wars ride again...both boys loved it the 1st time.

Finally were able to get our iconic photo in front of the hat!
Rode the Toy Story ride...probably one of my favorite in the whole Disney complex!
Andy, Ted, Seth and I rode the Rockin Roller Coaster!  Seth was really nervous before hand...but when it was all over...it was all he could talk about!   His favorite ride by far!

Grant had seen the light sabers at the Star Wars store...and he wanted that to be his special souvenir.  He was so excited to build his very own light saber!

But...then to tell him he couldn't play with it in a crowded park...a little frustrating.
Then...headed out to see Fantasmic.  We had about a 30 minute wait.   It was a little bizarre, and scary at parts...but overall...a pretty cool show.
So...even amidst Tropical Storm Andrea we were able to have a pretty good day at Hollywood Studios.
