Vacation...July 17

We all slept great...packed up and ate breakfast at the hotel at a yummy buffet.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day...perfect weather.  We walked to the Visitor Center and watched the movie on the history of the falls. to the discovery center and the aquarium which were part of a package we bought.
Then...we caught the trolley back to Goat Island and went on the Cave of the Winds tour.  Grant was so excited for this.   There were no lines for anything...and we were able to walk right into the falls.

Grant has no fear...he just stood there for a good 5 minutes as the water rushed over his feat.

On the Hurricane Deck...all 3 boys went to the farthest corner and just stood there...getting soaked.   I was amazed to learn that they tear down and rebuild the walkway every year....what a job.

Then for a little hike down to Terapin Point...another fun view of the falls.

And of course...some ice cream.

We left Niagara about 3...and headed about 20 minutes north to Fort Niagara State Park.  Since we had a huge breakfast and ice cream...we ate a late picnic lunch overlooking Lake Ontario

then the boys played in the water and threw rocks...lots and lots of rocks.  Their new "cave of the wind" sandals were great for walking on all the rocks.  We could even see Toronto

Then on to tour the fort.

Lots and lots of cannons...and a beautiful view overlooking the lake
Most of the special events were over by the time we were there...but still fun to walk around
After that...we drove about 1.5 hours to Rochester along the scenic route...lots of beautiful homes and view of the lake.   We didn't have hotel arrangements...and had some problems in the parking lot of McDonalds (Using their wifi)...including accidently booking for August instead of tonight...but after a few phone calls to cancel the August date...and then just  driving and dropping in...we found a place.   The boys gave me cards at a late night pizza dinner at the place next to the hotel.

It was  busy beautiful day....excited to move on to the next part of our venture.
